Recap of 101st Annual PLEA Dinner Meeting in Portland
The venue for our 101st annual PLEA dinner meeting on October 23, 2024 was not only perfect for our group but the parent company of one of our presenters handled the conversion of this old church into the now Steeplejack Brewing.
Some of our members flew into the Portland airport for our meeting and saw firsthand the use of Mass Timber in this new structure.
We invited three guest speakers intimately involved in the new Portland Airport project to come and speak to our group about what it was like to be involved in such a large project that still has a few more stages to complete.
Our three guest speakers at this year’s PLEA Dinner Meeting were:
- Christopher Evans – President of Timberlab
- Tyler Freres – Vice President of Freres Engineered Wood
- KayCee Hallstrom – Vice President of Zip-O Laminators
The feedback we received from our members who were in attendance was that it was one of the best annual dinner meetings we have ever had. This was due to our discussions with our guest speakers, the venue, the food and drinks, and most of all, the familial camaraderie in that room.
